This would be a really nice improvement. I used to use Gadwin Printscreen before I discovered Greenshot, which has this feature available. Certainly when working on a notebook with a touchpad it can be a challenge to select the correct area you want in one try.

Yeah, select first point, than press again for opposite point, then program reads the arrow keys to adjust pixelwise (the closest rect's corner to the mouse, for example).
And then if you press esc the region is nullified and beforest is kept;
If press that same "region key" - it is remembered;
And "Last region shot" it is remembered and shot now.
See, i'm suggesting that the region select is also a standalone action without mandate shoot. And that regional shoot cound do with only the "Last region shot" key. considered we anyway have to press a key again if selection will be accurate....

I have also been considering this feature as noted in the previous post of Date: 2010-09-03 11:23:15 PDT of dragging the window to capture a new region. This program is great for making movie Gifs with the use of the Shift+Print short cut. But having to resize a new area for the same pixel by pixel is somewhat tedious. Would love to have that be stored in memory as a preset option.

It would be very cool if it was possible to resize the box for screenshots of parts on the screen. This could be done using a different hotkey.
A scenario I image would be like this:
1\. draw a raw rectangle around the area I like to capture
2\. do some fine tuning by resizing the area (take a look at the way you can resize selections in newer gimp versions)
3\. doubleclick on the rectangle/or hotkey to take the shot.
