Greenshot makes lots of web requests to its website

Description

I have Greenshot launch at startup. Noticed today via PiHole that a lot of requests are made. Every 5 minutes to be precise. I saw a recently closed JIRA on the subject that was closed because it was old. I have my setting to the default "check every 14 days". Just wondering why these requests are made every 5 minutes.

I included the last dozen requests or so in a screenshot with timeline.

Just so you know, due to personal reasons I didn’t get to this yet.

Installed it with your installer I believe. I was able to make a simple notepad change and save the ini to set debug mode. I used “everything” to find the files, here are their locations. Nothing in is the Program Files dir. They are marked as “compressed” which I didn’t do, I imagine that’s a Windows default although I’ve never noticed that before.

It should automatically update the LastUpdateCheck value after every check.

How did you install Greenshot, and where did you find the greenshot.ini? Can the process write in that directory, maybe the file is write protected?

Are you using other greenshot*.ini files in the directory? There are ways to fix settings, which might cause the issue you are having.

That is weird, almost like it doesn’t update the greenshot.ini with the most recent date.

Sitting in debug, I found these entries now…
