Improvement Suggestions for Torn edge settings dialogue box

Description

On the "Torn edge settings" dialogue box it lists all the edges you want to tear...

  • Tear top side

  • Tear right side

  • Tear bottom side

  • Tear left side

...they are shown in a 'simple' list that are left-justified.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can you change the dialogue box so that it is more obvious which edges should be torn?

For example, please move the checkboxes so that they visually show which edges are being torn.

I have attached an example image which shows the current dialogue box along with a suggested dialogue box.

I understand that you can simply read the checkboxes to know what it will do...but a visual image would be quicker.

Kind regards,

Lee

Many thanks guys for taking my feedback positively and acting on it so quickly. It really does improve the user experience.

I'm looking forward to the next release!

Thanks again,

Lee

I consider this one resolved, please let me know if you have more feedback on the current status.

That said, for Greenshot 2.x I'd really love to have some sort of preview here.

oh yes, "alle kanten" is correct, so I overlooked the rest
Good catch!

And the logic sounds good, as long as the stored values are honored.
Will check it out later, need to walk my dog

Oh, by the way, I assume it should rather be "Alle kanten scheuren" for "Tear all sides"?

(Sorry for double-posting, have been using the wrong address)

Yep, the all-sides checkbox is UI-only, and they are interacting with each other to always keep state consistent. You can try it in the latest build: http://sourceforge.net/projects/greenshot/files/Greenshot/Greenshot%201.2/

With this solution I have been able to come around a usability problem I had encountered with the previous dialog: when I thought "I only want to have it torn on the left side", I often found myself clicking on the left checkbox (actually *un*checking it), my intuition wants to click the one I want. Yet the default should be "all sides" so having all unchecked by default is not an option.

The current implementation allows my clicks to follow my thoughts, like "No, I don't want all sides (click), only the left one (click)." while it is compatible with the other approach "I want neither top (click) nor right (click) nor bottom (click)."

What do you think?
