Exporting the images and objects as .svg would be very helpful, as the vector-like nature of the files will enable further editing in other tools like Inkscape.
I would like to contribute with the code, I have not found any git branch to fork and push to.
Amazing piece of SW btw. Thanks!

I had this exact same desire. I frequently need to save off and re-open at a later time to edit placement of text/etc. It would be awesome if there were a way to save to a format that captured both the base image and the objects. Presently, the .gst file only contains the objects and since I’ve saved, I’ve obliterated the base image. I believe .gst files are intended to be template files where the same objects can be re-used with different screenshots, but I need something more robust.
SVG was the perfect fit IMO and I came here looking for this feature request specifically.
Next task, learn how to contribute to the codebase.
