However, the ‘save as’-dialog is necessary to show, because the destination path changes very frequently. The shortcut key to prefill the ‘save as’-dialog with JPG could be Alt J, the key for PNG could be Alt P. An advanced saving dialog could detect if the clipboard holds a string including a backslash, and if so prefill the path.
The goal is to speed up and simplify choosing the file format when saving a screenshots. My workflow is to save either as JPG if the souce includes photographs or as PNG if the souce is text or simple graphics, always with the files size in mind. Currently I have to choose a file format in the save dialog which is annoying because I switch frequently.
The idea is to let you define a prior and a secundary file format in the program settings and than have one or two ‘Save directly’ buttons (next to the “Save” button in the editor), to directly save in the one or the other file format. Instead of two buttons it could be a single button with the shift or alt key pressed, to save in the prior or second format.
Same with key shortcuts to bypass the editor.
