The main purpose of this functionality is to make it easier for the user to validate that they selected the right area, in my case and most likely for a lot more people out there it makes more sense to be able to see the selected area the entire time. It also is a lot more convenient to use the screenshot selection as a whole when you can see the area; it's more user friendly when you can tell what's selected since the action bar is asking you what you'd like to do with the said selected area.
On side note, I re-uploaded the attachment since the format wasn't right.
Thanks.

I see what you mean, but I still don't understanding the added value.
Don't get me wrong, but for me this feature request is something like "I want the button to be red"..
Without me understanding why it needs to be red, and I don't have the information to understand it.
Doesn't mean that the request is invalid, I just want to understand what this feature brings you and our other users.

@Robin Krom When you take screenshots with Lightshot (application) it allows you to keep the screenshot area highlighted while action menu pops up (where you select how to save the image). I would love if such feature could make it into Greenshot (see attached screenshot, see above I reuploaded it*).

Please explain, i'm not following you.
Lightshot provides you with the option to keep area selected after selection which makes it easier to determinate if the screenshot is good before you proceed with saving it, such functionality would be greatly appreciated in this software.
