I’m really sorry, but I have no idea what this bug can be.
“I’m using an optimized version of Windows 7, so there shouldn’t be anything noticeably different in the way it operates from any other version of Windows 7, except for it running better of course.“ That sentence is a contradiction in itself.
Fact is: we can no longer support Windows 7, and as you are the only one reporting this, it seems to be something with your setup. It would probably cost me a couple of hours to install and test this, with a high chance of not showing in my setup, which is not worth my time for a no longer supported OS.
I suggested you to try a newer build, which can be downloaded here: https://github.com/greenshot/greenshot/releases but you seem to have ignored my advice. This might not work at all, but I do not know, I just know we fixed a lot of bugs in there.
I can also urge you to check if your multi monitor setup is aligned, make sure that there is no gap between them. Make sure you update your graphics drivers… Make sure you do not run any tools which change the UI like screen readers, magnifying, desktop manager, and window positioning tools. And that is all I can imagine.
I’m sorry, but we won’t be the only software vendor (especially the ones who aren’t paid) who can no longer help you.
Greetings, I have tried to circumvent this issue by moving the task bar to the other monitor, though GreenShot still captures 16 pixels of whatever happens to be on the other monitor (8 of which are hidden between the monitors) plus it captures 16 pixels on the bottom. So I’d still have to crop any picture that I’d want to place on a website.
I’m using an optimized version of Windows 7, so there shouldn’t be anything noticeably different in the way it operates from any other version of Windows 7, except for it running better of course.
Thank you.
Sorry, I prefer not to “upgrade” to Windows 10.
You can download WinBorg 7 Ultimate and run it in VMware Workstation.

It works fine when windows are not maximized, but just expanded as large as possible. It’s when a window like FirestormViewer is maximized that it captures some of the taskbar also.
I’m pretty sure this worked just fine a couple of years ago, when we released Greenshot 1.2.10
Could it be that you are using some kind of application on your system to change your styles, or the look and feel of Windows? This might be causing some side effects like this.
Unfortunately we can no longer support Windows 7, the support for non enterprise systems has ended and we do not have the financial ressources / hardware / time to have this installed to look at. Sorry for that, but you should really upgrade your Windows.
You might try one of the more recent builds to see if it works better, we try not to change anything which has influence on it’s behavior on Windows 7 but we can no longer guarantee this… https://github.com/greenshot/greenshot/releases
With two monitors on the system, and when capturing a window on the main Monitor it's capturing eight pixels down of the task bar, and eight pixels of the second Monitor. Although it's not happening for every window, just a few that are maximized, including Zoom Meetings, and FirestormOS. (although not consistently on FirestormOS it seems, just once in a while.) And seems to be consistent on Brave, and probably any other web browser.
If capturing a window on the second monitor some of the alpha space is captured also(if the two monitors are not the same size), as well as eight pixels onto the main monitor, plus the eight pixels that are hidden between the two monitors, for a total of 16 pixels.
Captures on the main monitor also have the same 16 pixels between the two monitors. Eight hidden pixels and eight pixels of the 2nd monitor.
To see this on your captures, install Paint.net and zoom into 2000%.
Thank you.
