Confirmed: Setting of the 8bit-option avoids the problem, so it seems to be a problem of the current version 17.0.2 of Thunderbird.
And one correction to my bug report: With Greenshot 1.0.6 the problem exists also. But when I used it in the past, a previous version than v17 of Thunderbird was actual.
Thank you for your great efforts!
Did you see the problem in other applications, or is only thunderbird affected?
Because there is a reported bug: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2622923
But I can't find out if this is fixed...
Otherwise I can only advice to turn of the 8-bit settings, meaning in the expert and output tabs. I can only do so much, not fix other applications too!
Best wishes,
Robin

Yes, I have been able to reproduce this with Device Independent Bitmap, however only if the 8bit option is enabled and if I am capturing an area with few different colors, probably less than 256...
The colors are not neccessarily inverted, see attachment (left: clipboard pasted into thunderbird; right: what it actually looks like)
Let me know if you need more info or more testing on this.
Greenshot version 1.10.xxx
Take a Screenshot and put it to the clipboard via menu
Open new message in Thunderbird (version 17.0.2)
Insert picture by pasting
Picture will be displayed inverted
In previous version 1.06 of Greenshot this problem didn't appear.
