The solution is actually supposed to be behind the URL: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943140
But unfortunately Microsoft no longer maintained the page, probably as the problem is Windows 7 related.

The issue you are most likely facing is a bug in your Windows installation, you somehow have a corrupt font on your PC. You can try installing Greenshot as often as you like, for this bug this will not help, not can we fix this on our side.

Here are some other reported problems:

https://billgoodmarketing.ladesk.com/505170-SystemArgumentException-Parameter-is-not-valid
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/e85d4e7f-f1ce-4e0b-b5da-d8d8f81114e9/while-opening-management-studio-i-am-getting-errorattempted-to-read-or-protected-memory?forum=sqlreportingservices
You might want to check the registry, as is described in those link.

Hope this helps!

P.S.
We can no longer effectively support Windows 7 with newer version of Greenshot, as Windows 7 is in extended support and with Greenshot being free we can not afford such support prices, we also do not want to promote using old versions. So I really advice you to upgrade your Windows installation.

thanks for the help. I commented on the ticket that one of these
suggestions resolved the issue for me, allowing Greenshot to install
and run.
