when I screen shot something, I have greenshot set to save the image, copy it to the clipboard, and export to MS word. The issue is there is greenshot will not allow me to export a screenshot to any word doc that it did not open. If I a word doc that I opened and one that greenshot opened it will only allow me to pic the word document it opened.
windows 10, Office 365
This issue might have been related to a windows 10 update. My laptop received some updates and since then has not had a repeat of the issue.
I was able to reproduce this (or at least some version of this) by downloading the word file attached to the issue. These days, Windows is very skeptical about opening files from the internet or even network shares depending on the type of file. For me, while the file was in Protected Mode it would not show up in the list. Greenshot is relying on the Microsoft Word Document Interface to return the open Word documents. In my case, I ran it through debug mode and found that it was only returning a single document even though I had two open (one in protected mode and one brand new document that I created). Considering the nature of Protected Mode, my particular case appears to be working as intended.
thanks for reporting this, I was looking at this ticket and had the document open... saw the "protected" notice in it, and already thought that would be the issue while reading your text, this only confirmed it.
I am actively filtering the readonly and final documents out, but in this case Word doesn't even directly tell me there are documents open.
Closing this, as "solved", as I don't want to "hack" Word so I can display something I cannot modify in the end.
At least we can explain what happens here
