These are nits about the disk icon on the Editor's toolbar:
the tool tip says simply "Save" but it should say what it's actually going to do ("Save As" or "Save Directly")
currently the icon activates the Save As (opens dialog) menu choice, but this is antithetical to the idea of the toolbar icon, which should be "do the most automatic thing possible to make my life easier". So, the disk button on the toolbar should activate "save directly using preferences" option
The use-case for me here is:
select a screenshot area and open in editor
add an arrow or a box
save with defaults
This needs to be efficient and streamlined when you're taking 100's of shots for a manual.
Hm the save button behaves like most save buttons in other programs do: if the current document is associated with a file, overwrite the file; otherwise prompt the user to select path and filename.
I think this is what users expect a save button to do, so I'd rather go for an additional "Save Directly" button in the toolbar instead of changing the behavior.
But I agree that it would be better if the tooltip said what the actual click action will be.
Thanks and best regards,
OK - I can concede that, as well as the reasons why the editor is not working on a saved file.
If the button is added to Save Directly, can it also close the editor? I really don't want to hang out all day in the editor- I just want add an arrow and get on with my life. A 1-click escape route would be awesome.
